The U-No bar is not currently available, and the evidence points to it being discontinued — but no one has actually said so. Here is what is on the record, and what is not.
What is on the record
Annabelle Candy Company closed its Hayward, California factory on 27 September 2024, ending 59 years of production there. Its owner, Promise Confections, said at the time that it would "100% continue to produce the product", and the brands named in that coverage were Abba-Zaba, Big Hunk and Rocky Road, with Look named elsewhere. The stated intention was to move them to other facilities.
The U-No bar — the crumbly, truffle-textured chocolate bar Annabelle picked up with the Cardinet brands in 1978 — was not among the brands named. It has not returned to retail since the closure. Annabelle's own website is currently down altogether, so there is no manufacturer page to check either way.
What is not on the record
You will see "discontinued in April 2025" stated as fact in a lot of places, including at the top of search results. That sentence originates in a single uncited Wikipedia edit — one that misspells Annabelle — and nothing supports it. There is no Promise Confections statement, no trade-press report, and no press release. We are not going to repeat a date that does not exist.
So: almost certainly gone, on the balance of what a factory closure plus a brand-list omission plus two years of empty shelves tells you. Not confirmed, and not dated.
The rest of the Annabelle shelf
If you want the nearest thing in texture, there isn't one — the U-No's whipped, slightly chalky truffle centre was its whole point and nothing else in American candy does it.
What we can get is the rest of the Annabelle range, and it is worth your time. Big Hunk (the nougat and peanut bar you are meant to smash before eating) and Abba-Zaba (peanut butter inside taffy) are in stock now. Rocky Road and Look are on this page but currently out of stock with us and, as far as we can tell, with everyone else too — the move out of Hayward was announced, and we have not seen either bar since. We are not going to tell you they are back in production when we cannot get them ourselves. If that changes, it changes here first.
